Vietnam urges respect for, full implementation of Chemical Weapons Convention (Vietnam Net Global)

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) convened a meeting on October 4 to review the implementation of Resolution 2118, issued in 2013, on the issue of chemical weapons in Syria. In his remarks, Ambassador Pham Hai Anh, Deputy Permanent Representative of Vietnam to the UN, reiterated Vietnam’s stance on condemning the use of chemical weapons, stressing the need for respecting and fully implementing the CWC.

West pushes Russia for answers on Navalny poisoning (France24)

A group of 45 Western countries demanded at the global toxic arms watchdog on Tuesday that Russia provide urgent answers about the poisoning of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. Moscow now has 10 days to respond to the questions posed by the EU and countries including the United States, Canada and Australia, under the rules of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).

Dialogue, cooperation right approach to Syrian chemical weapons issue: Chinese envoy (Xinhua)

It is China’s consistent position that dialogue and cooperation is the right approach to the Syrian chemical weapons issue, a Chinese envoy said on Monday. Syria and the OPCW should respect scientific facts, adhere to objectivity and impartiality, continue to discuss fully, move towards each other, and together strive for early settlement of outstanding issues.
