17th General Meeting of BNACWC Held (United News of Bangladesh)

The 17th General Meeting of Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention was held on Monday via an online platform. Members reviewed the present activities of BNACWC and discussed about the future road map to implement the Chemical Weapons Convention in Bangladesh.

The situation in the Middle East (Syria) – Security Council, 8830th meeting (United Nations)

The members of the Security Council will review the activities of OPCW between 24 June to 23 July 2021 in implementing Security Council resolution 2118 (2013) and the relevant provisions of the OPCW Executive Council decisions in relation to the elimination of the Syrian chemical weapons programme. Note by the Technical Secretariat: Correspondence from Germany to the OPCW Requesting Technical Assistance in the Case of Mr. Alexei Navalny, and Associated Documents (OPCW)

Germany requested the OPCW Technical Secretariat to declassify previously classified documents related to the Alexei Navalny case. The Secretariat published a letter from the Permanent Representative of Germany to the OPCW, H.E. Amb. Gudrun Lingner, to OPCW Director-General, H.E. Fernando Arias, in which Germany requested the Secretariat to carry out a technical assistance visit in the case of Alexei Navalny.

Public Comment Sought for Static Detonation Chamber Permit (ACWA)

A draft permit that will allow operation of Static Detonation Chamber units at the Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant is open for public comment through Sept. 13. The three SDC units will augment the main plant by destroying 4.2-inch mortar rounds containing mustard agent.
